Description
Silentflex® pneumatic vibration isolator
The Silentflex® pneumatic isolator is a low-frequency anti-vibration mount inflated with air. It isolates vibration and levels the machine at the same time: just add or release air in each mount.
It is made of a synthetic rubber chamber reinforced at the sides by two steel rings. The base plate has four through holes to fix it to the floor, and a pneumatic valve is used to inflate it.
How it works
- Inflated, it markedly reduces vibration above 5 Hz.
- Without pressure it still isolates, with a vertical natural frequency of about 10 Hz.
- If it loses pressure unexpectedly, the machine rests on the elastomer body: the load capacity of the mount does not change.
- The vertical to horizontal stiffness ratio is about 1:1, which gives the suspension excellent stability.
- Against shock, the elastomer wall allows a large deflection. With an external spacer that keeps the mount from bottoming out, it can work at a natural frequency of 3 Hz.

The other dimensions (hole spacing, hole Ø, Ø of the top fixing and base thickness) are in the datasheet.
- Body: elastomer resistant to oils, most solvents and natural ageing, from −30 to +180 °C
- Top and bottom plates: steel or aluminium
- Top fixing: central threaded hole
Installation and levelling
- Place the mounts under the machine and screw the bolt into the top hole. The machine base must be level within ±3 mm before inflating.
- If you fix the mount to the floor, bolt the four holes in the base.
- Inflate only with the machine already resting on the mounts, one mount at a time and little by little, up to the height given in the datasheet.
- To level, add or release air in each mount until the machine is level.
Do not exceed the maximum load or pressure in the table, and check the pressure with a gauge. The machine foot must cover the whole surface of the mount; if not, place a plate of diameter F between them. Deflate the mounts before moving the machine.
Applications
- Machines and equipment that need low-frequency isolation
- Machines that have to be levelled without shims
- Equipment that has to be protected from shock
Made to order
The top and bottom plates can be steel or aluminium. If you need another version, ask us for a quote and we will look into it.
