A suspended slab that absorbs shock for military shelters
Metallic energy absorbers under a suspended concrete slab protect equipment inside military containers and bunkers from shock and seismic motion.

1The challenge
Equipment that must work after the blast
Electronics inside military containers and bunkers must keep working after shock and seismic events. Rubber is not an option: it burns, ages and loses its properties.
2The solution
Metallic energy absorbers under the floor
The shelter floor is a concrete slab suspended on Silentflex metallic energy absorbers. They work in all three axes, never fail completely under overload (an excess of shock turns them into a stiffer absorber) and last longer than the structure they protect.
3The result
Tested for shock and earthquake
The system was shock-tested with 10 tonnes of horizontal energy absorption and seismic-tested to GR-63-CORE at 1.65 g (16.5 m/s²), in the vertical and horizontal directions.
