Silentflex® damper for train tables and seats
The Silentflex® table and seat damper is a 100 % metal mount fitted between the tables or seats and the car structure. At high speed, air resistance makes the train body vibrate; without isolation, that vibration reaches passengers sitting at or leaning on the tables and seats. The damper cuts it and makes the journey more comfortable.
It is one of the parts Silentflex® makes for the Hitachi Rail Frecciarossa 1000, together with the floating floor damper, the oval-base metal mount for the toilet module and the metal flexible bush for the bogie.
How it works
A threaded stud holds the table or seat. Underneath, a metal cage houses metal mesh cushions on both sides of an intermediate plate, so the damper carries the load and curbs rebounds at the same time. The mesh deforms slightly with each vibration and dissipates the energy through friction between the wires.
