Yachts and leisure boats
Engines, generator sets, pumps and electronics on board ships and yachts.
Points on the drawing
Listen to the ship
Play the ship and hear what the mounts take out.
Noise reduction
– dB(A)
The engines shake the hull and you hear it in the cabins. On mounts most of it goes; the sea stays.
At night the generators keep running and their hum reaches the cabins. Their mounts cut it at the source.
Best with headphones. Sound synthesised from typical spectra, not a recording.
1Engines
The problem
On a yacht the engines sit right under the saloon and the cabins. Their vibration passes into the hull and is felt throughout the boat, especially at cruising speed.
What we fit
All-metal isolators under each engine: they isolate, hold the engine in heavy seas and do not degrade with oil, heat or salt.
Typical choice
Vibration mounts 954202-95420350–7,000 kg · 11–22 Hz
Vibration mounts 9544121,000–3,000 kg · 15–20 Hz
Vibration mounts 954416350–3,000 kg · 15–25 HzThe final choice depends on the load per mount, the speed and the environment. An engineer confirms it with you.
2Generator set
The problem
At anchor or in port, the generator runs all night for lights and air conditioning, and its hum reaches the cabins.
What we fit
All-metal isolators under the generator set, cutting vibration at the source.
Typical choice
Vibration mounts 954416350–3,000 kg · 15–25 Hz
Vibration mounts 95420150–900 kg · 18–25 Hz
Stainless axial vibration mounts70–1,400 kg · 15–25 HzThe final choice depends on the load per mount, the speed and the environment. An engineer confirms it with you.
3Exhaust
The problem
The exhaust runs along the stern to the outlet and vibrates with the engines: if it is rigidly supported, it carries vibration to the hull.
What we fit
All-metal supports for exhausts and pipework, withstanding heat and salt water.
Typical choice
The final choice depends on the load per mount, the speed and the environment. An engineer confirms it with you.
4Navigation electronics
The problem
Radar, chartplotter and autopilots on the flybridge take engine vibration and wave slamming.
What we fit
Light all-metal mounts under each unit, from 50 g.
Typical choice
Lightweight vibration mount SP52-4972.5–4.5 kg · 15–20 Hz
Electronics and aeronautics vibration mount 70020.7–60 kg · 6–12 Hz
Wire rope isolators5–1,000 kg · 7–15 HzThe final choice depends on the load per mount, the speed and the environment. An engineer confirms it with you.
